Friday in China

Post is a little late today. We arrived in Guangzhou late so I slept better last night.

Lily was not picking us up until 3:00 so we had all morning to pack and explore. After a yummy breakfast that included fried sponge Zachary convinced us that we should all go to the mall. Dallas and him went to it the day before and knew we didn't have to cross any major roads. So off we went. It was like a huge department store with individual stores inside. There was a Nike store, Adidas store, and lots more. No walls but separate stores. Prices were high so we didn't purchase anything. Just fun to walk around even though we were followed the whole time. Funny thing was nobody was shopping there except us.

In the basement was a grocery store so we went and got some drinks and a snack. We sat in the food court. I convinced Dallas to go search for a squatty potty since my cousin wanted a picture of one. He apparently took a wrong turn. He got a scolding by 3 Chinese ladies. They then came out to stare at him.

When we exited at the mall it was pouring down raining. Alyssa and I used the one umbrella we had. Everyone was soaked when we got back to the hotel and we were to depart in an hour. We opened up the suitcases and just made do.

We arrived at the airport quite early. We didn't mind. It is a new airport and we were excited about our flight. Conversed with a French man that was very confused. Then along came another American couple. It was wonderful to be able to talk to Americans again. Our flight was delayed two hours due to air congestion. Who knows what that means? It went by so quickly because of our new friends. Flights are much different here, when the flight was delayed over an hour they brought out meals for everyone. It consisted of cabbage, rice, meatballs, and some meat we couldn't identify. The girls loved the meatballs. I gave up after awhile due to only having chopsticks.

We arrived in Guangzhou around 10:00 pm. We were all surprised how awesome Alyssa did. She was a little nervous to begin with but played with fruit loops and fell asleep.

Our guide Elvin was there to meet us after we got our luggage. We were so happy to see him. We could tell right away that we would like him.

We arrived at our hotel at about 11:00. We were shocked with how nice it is. We had been told it was nice but didn't expect it to be this grand. Now we feel like we are on vacation.

Upon reaching our room we were delighted with the set up. It is a small suite and everything is very nice. Best thing of all is the air condition works. We can finally be in the room without sweating.
